Border Patrol

In Series 16 of Border Patrol, we follow the dedicated staff working on the frontlines of Aotearoa’s Border Security – checking for smuggled drugs and illegal goods, intercepting packages carrying harmful pests and screening incoming passengers 24/7.

NZ Customs are busy round the clock, seizing large quantities of illicit drugs worth millions of dollars and keeping one step ahead of smugglers’ creative concealments in everything from Shakespeare books, beauty creams and Ganesha paintings.

We’re on the shoulder of Biosecurity NZ officers as they inspect passengers for undeclared food items, animal products and endangered species, which all pose a serious risk to New Zealand’s economy.  At Auckland International Airport, porcupine quills, an alligator skull and cactus plants are all on the confiscation list. And in Christchurch, huge amounts of undeclared food and fishy tea are stopped just in time.
