World Screen: BossaNova Media Expands Slate Ahead of MIPCOM

BossaNova Media has added three new series to its lineup ahead of MIPCOM, including Ancient Autopsy.

Professor Suzannah Lipscomb, a British historian, and forensic pathologist Dr. Richard Shepherd investigate the deaths of Cleopatra, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan and Tutankhamun in the four-part series from Yeti Television, which has been prebought by Channel 4 for More4.

BossaNova has also taken on Red River Gold, produced by 3 Story Pictures in Canada for APTN, now heading into its second season, and Fredbird Entertainment’s Gold Wars Down Under, following on from the success of Adventure Gold Diggers.

Claire Runham, BossaNova Media’s head of acquisitions, said: “If there’s one genre that never gets old it’s mystery—and if you can combine mystery with history, so much the better. Ancient Autopsy delivers that formula brilliantly, along with another winning ingredient: celebrity. Cleopatra, Alexander the Great, King Tut, Suzannah Lipscomb… Who could resist? Red River Gold also focuses on a historical mystery but with the added excitement of a modern-day treasure hunt. And if audiences love a mystery, they possibly love gold even more, which is why we’re confident that Gold Wars Down Under will come up tops with MIPCOM buyers.”
