BossaNova’s London slate includes a number of history, engineering and obs-doc titles, led by the Australian series Hunting Outback Gold (6 x 60 min.), produced by Prospero Productions for Nine Network Australia and UKTV. The show follows a pair of lifelong friends as they lead an expedition deep in the Australian Outback in search of a legendary, multi-billion-dollar fortune in gold and to solve a 100-year-old mystery.
The history series Secret of the Lost Grail with Alice Roberts (3 x 60 min.), from 9 of Cups Productions for Hearst Networks and SBS, follows Roberts on a quest for the truth behind Britain’s Holy Grail legend.
Roberts also leads Roman Empire by Train (6 x 60 min.), produced by Spark Media for Channel 4, which finds the professor — in her fourth travelog focusing on ancient civilizations — spanning 1,500 miles by train as she analyzes the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, from Naples to Pompeii to Rome, as well as France and Spain.
Another train-centric series on the BossaNova slate is Steam Train Diaries (4 x 60 min.) from Button Down produced for Channel 4. The series is a revealing journey through the North York Moors National Park aboard the heritage steam engines that travel through its hills and valleys, uncovering the hard work, skills and passion needed to keep the iconic line running.
Finally, the series Nevada Wild (10 x 60 min.) produced by Engel Entertainment for Animal Planet, is set against the rugged landscapes of the American state and follows its dedicated game wardens and biologists as they protect natural resources, enforce hunting and fishing laws and respond to wildlife emergencies.
