C21 Media: BossaNova showcases three premium factual shows to London Screenings

LONDON SCREENINGS: UK-based distributor BossaNova Media is showcasing three premium factual shows at the London Screenings this week, which it says reflects its strategy of investing in fewer, bigger, better projects.

The first show, The World’s Biggest Cruise Ship (2×60’), is a new two-parter from Welsh prodco Afanti Media about Royal Caribbean cruise ship Icon of the Seas, exploring the inner workings of the mega-vessel.

The second show, Museum Mysteries (6×60’), is a new series from Spain’s Zona Mixta which takes viewers into 20 museums in Europe to unpack the secrets and mysteries behind many of the artefacts and artworks.

The third project, The Infinite Deep: Stories of Lost Submarines (1×60/90’), comes from US indie AMS Pictures and investigates notorious cases of submarines that have gone missing, including the recent OceanGate Titan.

Paul Heaney, BossaNova’s CEO, said: “BossaNova’s team is trying to mirror how buyers are considering content these days with our own acquisition and commissioning strategy for our content pipeline. We are looking to do three things: build up existing franchises, create new ones and give the market what we think it wants regarding short run impactful documentaries across the crime and factual genres.

“Over the last three years we’ve invested around £10m [US$12.7m] in new projects, which has not only helped to keep our producer partners in business but has taught us a great deal about the creative risk/reward ratio. We’re drawing on our years of experience in the factual marketplace to identify projects that we believe have the potential to go global.”
