Broadcast: Channel 4 boards railway doc
World’s most famous steam train explored in BriteSpark Films and BossaNova two parter
Channel 4 and SBS Australia are the first to board BriteSpark Films’ two-part doc on the world famous steam train the Flying Scotsman.
Titled Secrets of Flying Scotsman, the documentary is produced by Argonon-owned BriteSpark alongside with content creation, funding and distribution company BossaNova Media.
It examines the famous steam locomotive and how it has come to epitomise both the elegance of the Golden Age and excellence in British locomotive design and engineering, becoming the first train to achieve 100mph.
Channel 4 and SBS Australia have boarded the documentary, replicating a successful funding model previously seen via BriteSpark’s Tsunami: The Day The Wave Hit which was also pre-sold to C4 and SBS.
The Tsunami doc has since been acquired by TVNZ, Viasat, SVT Sweden and Radio Canada.
BossaNova’s head of sales Holly Cowdery: “For BossaNova, it’s a thrill to be steering the Scotsman on what we’re sure will be another record-breaking journey on to global screens – and a privilege to be partnering once again with Channel 4 and SBS on a world-class project.”
Nick Godwin, BriteSpark’s executive producer, added: “Through exclusive expert testimony, never seen before footage and access to the Flying Scotsman today, this two-part series pays tribute to a true legend of the tracks, charting the compelling story of a British icon.”
Edmund Buckley directed the two-part film which is the second in BossaNova’s ‘Secrets of…’ strand, following Secrets of the Lost Liners.
